A new focus: We The People is now a political consultant working to rebuild the GOP
This is the official blog of We The People Strategies, LLC, a political consulting firm based in Kansas City dedicated to rebuilding the Republican Party from the ground up
Let’s face it. The Republican Party is broken.
It has been since Donald J. Trump became a candidate for president in 2015 and a large portion of the GOP absolutely refused to accept him at the party leader. The RINOs (Republican in Name Only) were more interested in self-preservation than preservation of the nation.
Along with the Left, these fake Republicans fought Trump every step of the way as he attempted to reestablish American greatness, rebuild the economy, secure the borders, cut taxes to working class Americans and provide the kind of defense the U.S. and it’s allies deserve. Ten of them in the House even voted to impeach Trump and two in the Senate voted to convict him of the bogus charges. Fortunately, they failed.
Those were symptoms of the afflictions the party suffers, though, not the actual affliction. That lies deep in the Washington Establishment, a self-interested self-perpetuating monster that essentially runs the federal government without benefit of being elected.
The Establishment is peopled by legislators in both chambers primarily interested in keeping their jobs, and by the bureaucrats living at the public trough, working in the agencies those Congressmen and Senators create. The way for members of the House and Senate to be in the good graces of those that finance their campaigns is to go along with those donors’ agendas, which are in turn carried out by the bureaucrats.
These uncomfortable truths are why so many Republicans disappear into the woodwork rather than fight for their constituents to lower taxes, reduce government spending, secure the borders and provide for defense of the country. They are fearful of facing more liberal opponents in their reelection efforts, particularly in districts that are pale pink, purple or even light blue on the political color spectrum.
It is time to rid the party of those who help the Left undermine the core principles of the Constitution. We could try to run young new candidates at the national level, but as we saw in the last election cycle, that rarely works. Instead, we need to be patient, adopt a “slow and steady wins the race” attitude and get young conservative businessmen and businesswomen involved at the local level, entrepreneurs who know how things get done.
Elect them to school boards, city councils and county commissions where they can learn to run a successful campaign and then learn to govern. With experience at that level, they will be able to graduate to statewide and federal offices.
That is how America used to do things. People were mayors, planning and zoning commission members, county commissioners. They understood local politics, local issues, local voters. They knew inherently that all politics is local, and that is how they approached their office. They also knew they were never intended to be career politicians, but public servants who made a living at their real careers.
Where are those men and women in this day and age?
They still exist. They are working in mid-level management positions or are entrepreneurs building their own businesses. They believe in the Constitution as a framework document upon which the U.S. government functions. They believe in God, family and country. They have not considered running for public office because they are busy going about their lives while at the same time sharing a frustration with government at all levels.
We want to find those young conservatives, present to them the case that they are very capable of making the changes they want for their own families and communities and help them prepare for a campaign and, more importantly, representing their constituents.
That is why Mike Nichols, with more than 20 years’ experience in political campaigns and the hold of a masters in clinical psychology from Boston University has teamed up with former Kansas 3rd District Congressional candidate John McCaughrean and tech and communications guru Dennis Truman to form We The People Strategies, LLC.
This Substack channel will be the official blog of the organization. We will share our progress and identify the great young conservatives that we hope to install in local government over the next few years, encouraging those who are willing to move to the next level, in state and federal offices. We will give conservatism a clear, strong voice in the Republican Party again.
We will also bring to light the local issues most important to the American people. We will clarify those issues to as to help local voters make informed decisions about how their schools, cities and counties should be run. We will begin to fundamentally change the Republican Party to represent the values that have been the American heritage for over 245 years.
We will carry on the work begun by those across America who want to “Make America Great Again.”
