Biden on the spot: Senate passes bill requiring release of intel on virus origins
Bill requires the Director of National Intelligence to declassify “any and all information” about links between the Wuhan Virology Institute and the virus within 90 days.
Any links known to the U.S. Intelligence community between the CCP virus and the infamous Wuhan laboratory are the target of a bill passed by the Senate Thursday. If it is approved by the House, it will require release of the information by the end of August. (Photo: ACV File)
By unanimous consent, the U.S. Senate passed the COVID-19 Origin Act of 2021 introduced in April by Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN).
The legislation requires the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) to declassify information related to any potential links between the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) and the origins of the virus. China has stonewalled all international efforts to do a forensic study of the virus to track it back to its point of origin. The reality is China is reluctant for the world to know the Chinese Community Party (CCP) created the virus under the guise of “gain-of-function” research that led — accidentally or intentionally — to the pandemic.
In March 2020, Senator Hawley was the first member of Congress to call for an international investigation into China’s cover-up of the spread of coronavirus. In April 2020, he introduced legislation to allow American citizens to sue the Chinese government for damages.
“The American people deserve to know about the origins of COVID-19. They deserve to know how this terrible pandemic that has ravaged the globe and our country, how it got started, and what China’s role was in starting it,” Hawley said on the Senate floor, prior to the passage of the bill.
Braun asked, “Whether it’s weighing in on issues of health care, national security, COVID-19, who disagrees with transparency?”
He added, “The sunshine reveals everything.”
The legislation was passed unanimously passed on Wednesday night and requires an unclassified report to be provided to Congress no later than 90 days from initial passage. Specific questions the bill seeks to answer are the “activities performed” by the Institute, the identities, symptoms and viral status of the three researchers, and their roles at the Institute — specifically whether they were “involved with or exposed to coronavirus.”
Support has grown in the last few days among Democrat lawmakers to investigate the origins of the CCP virus, House leaders have not yet said whether it will get a vote in the lower chamber and the White House hasn’t said if President Joe Biden will sign it.
If passed by the House and signed by Biden, the bill would require the DNI to submit an unclassified report to Congress with redactions limited to those that “protect sources and methods” without “altering or obscuring” vital information.

What is most interesting is not the substance of the bill, but how quickly the narrative has turned now that the multiple media sources have reported on three lab workers who became ill in October and November 2019. Suddenly, the lab leak theory was no longer a Trump-based fringe conspiracy theory — it became real. It even prompted the Leftist censors at Facebook to stop labeling such media coverage as “fake news” and taking down articles about the now-mainstreamed lab leak.
It has even prompted Joe Biden and Democrats in Congress to at least play along with the idea of releasing the intelligence — information that has no doubt been known since the very beginning of the pandemic, but that was withheld by the intelligence agencies to avoid giving support to President Trump.
We doubt that Democrats are going to release official information that is going to create another “Trump was right” moment, but the fact Senators Hawley and Braun drafted the bill, got it through Senate hearings and then got Senate Democrats on record as supporting it — all in less than 45 days — is nothing short of remarkable. It puts pressure on the House and the Biden Cabal to follow through.
There’s another reason it is doubtful there will be a release of official government intelligence. Such a review of intelligence data will likely reveal there was no “leak” but an experiment — funded under the guise of U.S.-backed gain-of-function research to provide the Communist Chinese with proof of concept on how a bio-warfare attack could work to destroy the U.S. economy.
That proof of concept then allowed China to move directly to the execution phase of the attack through the CCP’s continuing access to U.S media to spread fear through propaganda, with Fascist Democrat media fully cooperating. It permitted China to continuing access to the U.S. homeland to spread the disease by keeping transportation links open between Red China and the United States, until Trump shut them down.
Fascist Democrats’ refusal to cooperate with President Trump in cutting off U.S. capital markets enabled the CCP to keep U.S. dollars flowing into their country to rebuild any collateral damage to their own economy.
Keep in mind, all things advocated and supported by Democrats were diametrically opposed to virus response and policy recommendations of conservatives and supported by Republican President Donald Trump. The Fascists are complicit in the 500,000 U.S. deaths caused by the CCP virus.
