Biden's epic fail: Preselected questions, heavy use of talking points, lapses into confusion
If confidence in Biden was the objective of his first solo media conference, it missed by a mile
There is no other way to put it: Joe Biden’s solo media conference Thursday was simply embarrassing. For Biden, for his family, for the country and especially for the Cabal behind this figurehead president.
Biden’s first foray into the allegedly unscripted world of the presidential news conference — a medium his predecessor handled with ease — showed some serious drawbacks in Biden’s cognitive abilities.
Additionally, there is evidence Biden was given a list of supposedly “safe” reporters on whom he should call. Fox News’ Peter Doocy was notably absent from that list.
There were no doubt times during the Donald Trump presidency when his supporters regretted his bull-in-the-china-shop approach to political problems. There were no doubt times went Trump supporters were driven to the defensive when he went over to the offensive in a way that, frankly, might have been too offensive.
But never, in the four years in the Oval Office, did Trump embarrass himself, his supporters or his country by so clearly losing the thread of his thought and then trying to pretend it never happened.
And if he had, he would not have been dealt with so gently by a supportive press corps that was clearly willing him to succeed.
After a rocky start for an administration that’s been plagued by self-inflicted wounds such as the illegal immigrant crush at the southern border, this was Biden’s chance to reintroduce himself to the country in what was arguably the most important news conference of his life.
Unfortunately for him and his party, the only confidence this moment built was the confidence of 75 million Trump supporters that they were right all along.
At one point in the 47-minute session, Biden completely lost his place verbally and in his notes. This was very difficult to watch, even if you do not like the man. It is evidence of his rapidly advancing dementia and the fact the Twenty-Fifth Amendment might actually be a relief to the man at this point:
His stumbles and fumbles were only the most glaring evidence that Biden should have been sidelined before the presidential campaign of 2020 even began. Other more subtle indicators could be seen Thursday that the Cabal behind Biden is desperately scrambling to make him look “presidential,” something that at this point in his life is never going to happen.
At one point, a friendly reporter asked him if he was planning to run for reelection in 2024. Obviously the question was a plant. No president only 64 days into his term is looking four years ahead. He is still trying to figure out what his next move should be 15 minutes from now. Nonetheless, Biden assured her he most certainly would seek reelection in 2024.
The audible gasp that may or may not have been heard from behind the curtain may well have been Kamala Harris.
Additionally, as Fox News host Chris Wallace, a registered Democrat, pointed out, he was “struck by the fact that it seemed on every foreign policy question, not all the others, but on each foreign policy issue, he went to his briefing book like Jen Psaki does sometimes in the briefings, and was reading obvious White House guidance, White House talking points.”
“Covering Ronald Reagan for six years, I never saw that,” Wallace continued. “Watching a lot of news conferences over the years, I’ve never seen that — a president in a news conference reading talking points. He did that on, it seemed, every foreign policy question.”
Additionally, Biden clearly had a list of reporters he was to call on, as evidenced by a photo taken by one of the pool photographers.
A pool photographer photo shows a list, with pictures, of reporters the Biden Cabal considered “safe” for him to call on during the Thursday presser. Peter Doocy of Fox News was not on the list. (Photo: Beeny Johnson/Twitter)
Fox News reporter Peter Doocy was in the room but Biden did not call on him, instead consulting a list that he repeatedly looked at when determining who he was going to call on next. All of the reporters that Biden called on were from left-of-center mainstream publications and far-left organizations or are activists who masquerade as reporters.
Biden called on the following reporters:
Zeke Miller, reporter, Associated Press
Yamiche Alcindor, far-left reporter, PBS
Seung Min Kim, reporter, The Washington Post
Cecilia Vega, reporter, ABC News
Ken Thomas, reporter, Wall Street Journal
Kristen Welker, reporter, NBC News
Nancy Cordes, reporter, CBS News
Kaitlan Collins, reporter, CNN
Justin Sink, reporter, Bloomberg News
Janet Rodriguez, reporter, Univision
Numerous pundits and political strategists have alleged online that Biden appeared to have received the questions in advance. The allegations haven’t been proven. Reports have surfaced from the first days of Biden being in office that the administration asked for reporters’ questions in advance of the daily press briefings, the ones handled by Jen Psaki.
Again, this media debacle was a complete embarrassment for Biden. It’s embarrassing for Biden’s family, and it’s embarrassing, most of all, for the country that has a clearly declining septuagenarian as its figurehead leader.
Unfortunately for Biden and his Cabal, the country noticed.
