New scandal: Hunter Biden lied on firearms background check, Secret Service covered for him
The younger Biden claimed he did not have a history of drug abuse, even though he was discharged from the U.S. Nave for cocaine abuse
Another scandal involving Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, broke on early Thursday morning when a new report outlined allegations that the Secret Service intervened in a firearm-related incident a few years ago on Hunter’s behalf.
It is a continuing sago of alleged criminal activity by Hunter Biden. Through his lawyers, he revealed in December that he was under federal criminal investigation over matters related to his taxes and overseas business dealings.
The new allegations facing Hunter Biden stem from an October 2018 incident between Hunter Biden and Hallie Biden, the wife of Hunter Biden’s deceased brother, Beau Biden. Hunter Biden dated Hallie and later fathered a child with a stripper while he was living with his sister-in-law.
Hallie Biden allegedly took the younger Biden’s gun and threw it in a trash can behind a grocery store, which prompted an investigation from law enforcement officials who were concerned because the trash can was close to a high school. Hallie later returned to retrieve the firearm only to discover it was missing.
ACV learned early Thursday that Secret Service agents approached the owner of the store where Hunter bought the gun and asked to take the paperwork involving the sale, according to two people, one of whom has firsthand knowledge of the episode and the other was briefed by a Secret Service agent after the fact. ACV will not reveal their names at their request.
The gun store owner refused to supply the paperwork, suspecting that the Secret Service officers wanted to hide Hunter’s ownership of the missing gun in case it was to be found to have been involved in a crime, the two people told ACV. The owner, Ron Palmieri, later turned over the papers to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, which oversees federal gun laws.
In a vague comment provided to ACV by the Secret Service, the agency acknowledges their agents at the Wilmington, Delaware office unofficially helped manage Joe Biden’s security. The Secret Service denies having any official record of investigating Hunter Biden’s missing gun.
AVC did obtain copies of the Firearms Transaction Record and a receipt fot the gun, dated October 12, 2018. This is what we found:
Hunter responded “no” to a question on the transaction record that asks, “Are you an unlawful user of,or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?” Five years earlier, he had been discharged from the Navy Reserve after testing positive for cocaine, and he and family members have spoken about his history of drug use, up to and including most of 2019.
Lying on an ATF Form 4473 is a felony that can carry a 10-year prison sentence with a $250,000 fine.
Hallie Biden told Hunter Biden what she did, at which point he told her to retrieve the firearm. When she returned to the store to get the firearm out of the trash, it was missing. The Delaware State Police and the FBI responded to the scene to investigate and questioned Hunter Biden. A copy of the police report said that Hunter Biden “became very agitated” when he was asked if the firearm had been used to commit a crime.
When Hunter Biden was asked if he was doing drugs or drinking, he responded by saying that Hallie Biden was concerned about him being mentally unstable, saying that she was concerned that he was going to commit suicide.
The report says that “an older man who regularly rummages through the grocery’s store’s trash to collect recyclable items” found the firearm and returned it days later, although it does not say who the firearm was returned to.
The White House claims that Joe Biden “does not have any knowledge of, or involvement in, the Secret Service’s alleged role in this incident.”
